William Carter Conway, age 79, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on December 21, 2018.
Mr. Conway was a native of Williamson County and descendant of the Carter family that lived in the Carter House in downtown Franklin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. After the military, he was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. Received his Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt. Carter practiced law for 49 years with his career primarily in Franklin, Tennessee. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, former member of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, avid hunter, outdoorsman and member of Ducks Unlimited.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Lee Conway, and mother, Elizabeth Moore Bennett Conway; brother, Major James Bennett Conway and twin brother, George Lee Conway, Jr. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Lacey Conway of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter, Nan Conway (Richmond) Miller of Nashville, Tennessee; stepson, Donnie (Kathy) Young of Madison, Mississippi; sister, Elizabeth “Betsey” Conway (John) Snodgrass of Ypsilanti, Michigan; grandchildren Rachel Katherine Miller, Madison Elizabeth Miller, Will Young and Allison (Barrett) Jacques; great granddaughter, Eva Harper Jacques; and other loving family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, The Rev. Monna Mayhall officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Otey Hall at the church. A private family inurnment will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Columbarium. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Williamson County Bar Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
