BASKETBALL: Brentwood Academy girls soar in Texas, Fairview boys win tourney

Brentwood Academy girls get two Friday wins in Texas tournament 

The Brentwood Academy Lady Eagles got two wins in the Sandra Meadows Classic Tournament in Dallas, Texas, Friday.

The team started the day off strong with a 48-42 victory over Mesquite Horn (Texas), with Maggie Brown leading the team with 17.

In the day’s second match-up, the team bested Ellison, 57-37.

Brown once again led the team with 19 points, giving her 36 points in total on the day.

Fairview boys claim Zaxby Classic

The Fairview Yellow Jackets walked away from the Zaxby Classic Friday victorious, winning the tourney outright with a 68-53 win over Kenwood.

Franklin Road Academy Lady Panthers post up Friday victory

FRA decided to head out of the week with a win, running past Darlington (Georgia) with a 64-54 score.

Iris Heldman led the team with 22.

Brentwood boys drop second game of Father Ryan tourney

The Brentwood Bruins couldn’t duplicate Thurdsay’s success in the Father Ryan’s Willie Brown ’65 Basketball Tournament, losing one to Mt. Juliet, 53-50.

John Windley led the team with 16 in the loss.

They’ll play for third place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Father Ryan.
