Abby Grubbs, daughter of Tammy and Eric Grubbs, is a senior at Summit High School and a member of the varsity girls volleyball team.
She plays the position of setter for the team.
In a recent game against Centennial, she had 26 assists. For the overall season, she had 46 assists, putting her at 463 career assists.
Grubbs started playing on a recreational league team in second grade. After a few years playing, she tried out for the Alliance Volleyball Club.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “I always want to be better than the previous season. There is always something that I can get better at and because I know that, it pushes me to become better.”
One of her biggest role models and influences is her sister.
“I followed her into playing volleyball. She was a setter also, so she was like my competition to get better. Ever since then, I’ve looked up to her as a person and as my best friend.”
After finishing at Summit, Grubbs hopes to attend Lindsey Wilson College and continue playing volleyball there.
