Payton Craig, son of Gary and Kim Craig, is a senior at Summit High School and a member of the varsity football team.
He plays the position of running back for the team.
Craig said that ever since he was little, he has had the dream to play college ball. With this in mind, he started playing at a young age to kickstart that goal.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “What inspires me is knowing there are people out there trying to be the best and I’m just competing to be the best.”
One of his biggest role models is Nick Saban, head football coach at University of Alabama. He said he really admires him “because of how great he wants to become and how he is so successful at what he does.”
After graduating this year from SHS, Craig plans to attend Mississippi State University where he will pursue playing football. He would like to major in sports journalism.
