Sawyer Knott, son of Suzanna and Darren Knott, is a senior at Summit High School and a member of the wrestling team.
Knott wrestles in the 170 pound weight class.
Last year, he placed fourth at State. He is also a two-time region champion.
Knott got into wrestling because he was looking for a challenge.
“I wanted to challenge myself and I loved the aspect of combat in the sport,” he said.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “I wrestle because I love it. It helps make me a better person. With every match, I learn something new and how to improve.”
One of his biggest role models and influences is his father, Darren.
“When he wants something done, he goes out and does it himself,” Knott said admiringly.
After graduating this year from SHS, he plans to attend Utah Valley University and pursue a criminal justice degree.
