Tara Shade, daughter of Neal and Sharon Shade, is a distinguished tennis player at Summit High School.
However, in the coming years she plans on resigning from tennis, at least on a competitive level. Next school year, Shade will be going to Western Kentucky University and majoring in art and education.
“I’m going to focus on school,” she said.
She excelled for four years in tennis, lettering all four years. Her coach, Chelsea Graves, said she is an exceptional young lady.
“She simply shines at everything she does,” Graves said. “Her crafty tennis game and will to win makes her nearly unstoppable on the court.”
Shade said her mother helped her get into tennis. It helped make sure she was active, she said.
“It definitely helps me to stay physically active,” she said.
She doesn’t plan on competing competitively at Western Kentucky University, but will play as a club sport or recreationally, she said.
But, she is looking forward to her new life after high school at Western Kentucky.
“It felt like home,” she said.
