BASKETBALL: Brentwood, Page split, GCA sweeps Merrol Hyde

Below are select basketball scores from Monday and Tuesday night’s action. 

Brentwood, Page split in rematches 

Brentwood and Page went down to the wire in each of their contests Tuesday night, with the Lady Patriots victorious in one, and the Bruins in the other.

The Bruins topped the Pats 48-47, while the Lady Patriots were victorious over the Lady Bruins, 57-49.

Grace Christian Academy victorious on senior night 

On a special night to honor their seniors, the Grace Christian Academy basketball teams made sure to make it count.

The Lions topped Merrol Hyde 71-43, with hot hand Mason McKnatt throwing in 37 points (and 8 shots from the perimeter). Cole Scott pitched in with 12, and Will Beasley had 11.

The Lady Lions won 60-18 against Merrol Hyde, with Anna Smith posting up 17 points and Audrey Sanders scoring 16.

Lady Lions head coach Tony McLeod shared this special anecdote from the evening.

“Charlee Baker, one of our seniors who is out for the year, started, and Merrol Hyde let her get a bucket,” he said. “Coach Jimmy Steen from Merrol Hyde was awesome for letting us do that. He’s a great coach and an even better person.”

Brentwood Academy gets wins over PJPII 

The Brentwood Academy teams went on the road to Pope John Paul II and returned with wins.

The Eagles won 62-45, with Randy Brady leading the team with 22 points and Marcus Fitzgerald adding 17 and Clay Holmes adding 11.

The Lady Eagles claimed a 44-31 victory, with Avery Kovick leading the team with 13 points and Lauren Graham chipping in 10.

Battle Ground Academy powers past Zion Christian 

The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats got a big win over Zion Christian Tuesday, 70-31.

Kenny Rawls lead the points for the team with 14, while Kaleb Seay added in 10.

The Lady Wildcats also got a win, 54-24.

Kearstyn Seay led the team with 12 points in the victory.

Currey Ingram continues strong year with win

Currey Ingram bested Pleasant View Christian for their twelfth win of the season, 42-24.

Truman Christie-Mizell had 14 points in the win, and Dominic Briggs added in 12.
