Rebecca (Becky) Seat James, of Franklin, died Sept. 20, 2014. She was 86.

Born on Fairlawn Farm in 1928 in Murfreesboro, Mrs. James is survived by her husband of 66 years, John H. James Jr.; daughters, Debbie (Brad) Plumley, and Peggy (Mike) Vietti; brother, Tom (Eleanor) Seat; grandchildren, Tiffany (David) Drees, Josh (Angela) Plumley, Wes (Emili) Plumley, Matt (Susan) Vietti, and John (Veronica Garcia) Vietti; great-grand children, Lea, Samuel, Josiah, Gabriel and Christian Plumley.

Mrs. James was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State College in Murfreesboro and taught in Metro Nashville schools teacher for 17 years. She also was a retired manufacturer’s representative in the home furnishings accessory industry. Mrs. James also was a member of the Colonial Dames of America and the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as a past Regent of The General Frances Nash Chapter DAR in Nashville.

She was a longtime active member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, participated in the United Methodist Women, Robert I. Moore Sunday School Class, and was a past chairman of the Alter Guild.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 in the sanctuary at Brentwood United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. in the church. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Robert I. Moore Sunday School Class of Brentwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alter Guild of Brentwood United Methodist Church, 309 Franklin Rd, Brentwood, Tenn. 37027; Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, Tenn.; or a charity of choice.
