Brentwood Academy sophomore baseball player Tayler Montiel has picked where he’ll be playing in college.
The left-handed pitcher has committed to Mississippi State and will be joining the Bulldogs’ 2021 recruiting class.
Montiel plays both baseball and football at the school and also plays for the summer league Dulins Dodgers.
“Tayler put together an impressive summer that included a Perfect Game World Series All-Tournament Pitcher selection and winning the 15U National Championship with the Dulins Dodgers,” the press release on his signing reads.
“He has a strong academic foundation at the college preparatory school, with an overall GPA of 4.3. With personal determination and time efficiency, Tayler is currently managing AP and honors classes with the demands of football at Brentwood Academy.”
The Eagles athlete also received interest from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Duke before deciding on Starkville.
He will once again return to the mound for BA when the team returns to action next spring.
