The Brentwood Bruins paced out their opening 2018 home playoffs win over McGavock Friday night.

The team scored a touchdown in each quarter and tacked on a 37-yard Tabor Miller field goal in the second to edge the Raiders 31-11.

They’ll advance to a Region 6-6A rematch with Independence in Round 2 of the Class 6A playoffs next Friday.

Bruins sophomore QB Cade Granzow threw for 142 yards and a touchdown and ran for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Michael Burke led the team in rushing with 122 yards and two touchdowns, while WR Carter McKechnie hauled in Granzow’s TD pass to go along with his 24 in the air. WR Walker Merrill led the team with 52, while Burke had 37.

The win gets the Bruins the Eagles once more, who got the best of Brentwood in a 42-31 upset victory in September.
