The DUI Court Foundation of Williamson County recently announced the
sponsors and auction packages for this year’s “Take the Cake Charity Cake Auction and Celebrity Concert” to be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 at the historic Franklin Theatre.
The evening will kick off with a professional auctioneer inviting audience members to bid on specialized cakes — each with valuable gift packages included.
Then, Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum selling artist John Ford Coley (formerly of England Dan & John Ford Coley) will perform an intimate acoustic concert.
Known worldwide for such chart-topping hits as “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Nights Are Forever Without You,” “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again,” and “Love Is the Answer,” John Ford Coley’s music evokes warm feelings and great memories.
“We’re thrilled at the outpouring of generosity and support for this vital program,” DUI Foundation president Tally Osburn said in a press release announcing the show. “Driving under the influence continues to be a deadly problem in our communities. In Williamson County, we’re privileged to have a court-supervised recovery program where 2nd and 3rd time DUI offenders can be treated and transformed. Our DUI Court program has a high graduation rate, and those who complete this rigorous one-year program are almost 20 times less likely to reoffend than those who simply serve their jail time and are released. This program, however, is currently not funded by local or state taxes, so fund-raising is essential to our existence.”
Scott Tubandt, a DUI Foundation Board member, is equally enthusiastic about this year’s event.
“We’re honored that the Beth & Preston Ingram Foundation is our Platinum Presenting sponsor again this year. Your Williamson and SharingChange have stepped up as Gold level sponsors. Additionally, the folks at Full Service Insurance, Cumberland Heights, and Irvin Dyal & Brown/Auto-Owners Insurance are Silver Table Sponsors. Finally, JourneyPure and Carl & Connie Haley are supporting us as “Friends of the Foundation.”
“In addition to the financial underwriting of our sponsors, a number of
businesses and individuals have contributed wonderful cakes and valuable gifts to be auctioned. This year, folks will be able to bid on such things as a golf weekend, beach trip, luxury hotel stay, unlimited annual car wash pass, train trip, dinner and entertainment, and even an axe-throwing party. Additionally, we’ll be giving away some exciting free door prizes. And that’s just in the first 40 minutes or so. After that, we’ll kick back and enjoy one of our favorite artists — John Ford
Coley, when he’s not touring, divides his time between his home in South Carolina and a residence in Williamson County. He will be promoting the “Take the Cake” event by performing live on “Today in Nashville” at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, on WSMV Channel 4.
Tally Osburn concludes, “There are less than 90 tickets remaining for this great event, so we encourage folks to go to www.franklintheatre.com and reserve their seats now. This evening will not only be entertaining, but life-changing.”
