A crane appeared at the Harpeth Square construction site on Wednesday, three months after the hotel and residential project held the official groundbreaking.
The site, located between 1st and 2nd avenues north, is bordered by Bridge and Main Street.
Developer J. Roderick Heller said another crane would come soon, and the two would remain throughout the entirety of the year, as vertical building would begin this month. Foundation work, he said, is about to wrap up.
The $105 million project is the first of its kind downtown in recent history.
The hotel, a high-end Hilton Curio brand, and the apartments, Heller said, are slated to be finished by May 1, 2019.
Though the parking garage will be completed by July of 2018, Harpeth Associates, LLC. Chief Operations Officer Steve Bacon said the garage would not be available for use until the project’s completion due to life safety regulations.
Russ Haynes, Harpeth Associates’ Vice President, said interest in the ten available office spaces also was high.
Heller said that even with recent inclement weather, progress was steady.
“We were very impressed that in the sub-15 degree weather, they worked very well,” he said, praising contractor R.C, Matthews.
