As the regular season in Williamson County football begins to wind down, we’ve got two more weeks of football to go before the playoffs grind their gears for another year.
We’ve got a handful of teams out on byes, but there’s plenty to discuss with a few teams looking to make a push for November ball.
Of course, our Game of the Week will key in on Brentwood Academy’s yearly rivalry royale with Montgomery Bell Academy
Let’s take a look at who’s doing what as the week gets underway.
Page braces for key matchup with Shelbyville Central
The Page Patriots haven’t lost a game since early September, and they’re hoping the good times will continue to roll as rival Shelbyville Central comes to town.
Both the Patriots and Golden Eagles are 7-1 and a perfect 4-0 in the region. Of course, neither team can stay that way with the head-to-head on the way. It’ll be imperative for Page to get this one to take hold of the region and position themselves for a familiar view going into the playoffs.
WR Michael Burdick has been the lightning rod for Page’s offense this season, with QB Cade Walker turning in some of the best quarterback play in the county. RB Quincy Brock-Compton was the latest guy to get a ground game going for Page, and it’ll be interesting to see of Brock-Compton could help spark a consistent rushing attack for the team.
Shelbyville’s known to get its offense going in a big way at any time, and the defense, though a bit hot-and-cold, has the potential to clamp you. It feels like Page’s going to want to take advantage of being at home for this one and really work to get a fast lead.
It’s going to be a long night for both teams regardless, but hey, the early Pat might get the win here if they can keep away from the Golden Eagle.
If Page wins this, it’s a golden stamp on what’s been a wonderful season. If they lose, they’ll need to rally fast. It might not be too long before they see Shelbyville Central again in the playoffs.
Here’s the rest of the slate:
Franklin Road Academy will host a 5-3 Hickman County…Franklin will welcome Spring Hill…Brentwood will make the trip out to Marshall County…Independence will travel to Memphis East…Grace Christian Academy will take on Mt. Pleasant.
