Former Brentwood basketball star Grant Teichmann to begin pro career in Germany

Former Brentwood High School basketball luminary Grant Teichmann didn’t go far to play college ball.

However, he’ll be moving overseas to start his professional career.

Teichmann signed a two-year deal this week with MLP Academies Heidelberg, a second level ProA team in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

He has spent the last two seasons with Carson-Newman, where he was a key contributor, in Johnson City after transferring from Freed Hardeman.

With Brentwood, he helped the Bruins make three-straight state tournaments and garnered numerous accolades.

“From the beginning, I had the feeling that Heidelberg would be the best option for me,” he said in a release from the team. “I will do everything I can to help the team win as many games as possible. ”

Heidelberg head coach Branislav Ignjatovic said he’s excited about the shooting guard’s flexibility.

“One has noticed that he is very motivated and wants to work with his first professional station,” he said. “With his all-round qualities, we hope that we will be able to send many different lineups onto the field and thus react more variably to the opponents.”

The release says Teichmann has an exit option on his deal with a committed buyout after one season.
