Frances ‘Fran’ Elizabeth Rising: loving wife, mother and grandmother


Frances “Fran” Elizabeth Rising, 79, of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, died Aug. 22, 2014, in Nashville.

Frances “Fran” Elizabeth Rising, 79, of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, died Aug. 22, 2014, in Nashville.

Born in Erin, Tenessee to the late Enloe and Martha Green Harris, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Rising was preceded in death by a sister, Jewell Marakis.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Harold A. Rising; a son, Richard (Susan) Rising, Howell, Michigan; two daughters, Karen F. Rising, of Columbia, and Brenda K. (Joe) Oaks, Trenton, Michigan; a brother, Bill (Shirley) Harris, of Houston County, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Kimberley Hutchenson, Christopher Rising, Eric Petrovich, Michael Petrovich, Kelly Adan, Nicole Woodcox and Ashley Oaks; thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Mon., Aug. 25, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Darrell Lovelady officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 11a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 615-794-2289.
