The last domino in Williamson County’s basketball coaching carousel has fallen, and the remaining vacancy with Franklin High School’s boys basketball team has been filled.
The school announced Wednesday that former Dickson County coach Jason Tigert would be succeeding Darrin Joines as the Rebels’ new boys basketball coach.
“Very excited to announce that Jason Tigert has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Franklin High,” Franklin AD and new girls basketball coach Jay Johnson said in a Tweet.
Tigert went 17-11 last season at the helm of Dickson Co., a fellow 11-AAA team, and posted a 9-7 district record. The team got a late-season win against Franklin, a 2018-19 state tournament team.
Franklin is coming off its best season in 30 years and sees its former coach Joines heading to the Williamson County Schools main office to become the new athletic director. He replaces Dr. Jeremy Qualls, who transitioned into a new role.
The Rebels will lose a decent amount of talent after their special season, including decorated alum Reese Glover.
They’ll return to the hardwood this fall.
