Franktown Open Hearts program will introduce kids to riding

Franktown Open Hearts on Tuesday announced a new partnership with local nonprofit Take the Reins to provide inner city youth with Equine Assisted Learning in a safe, faith-based environment.

Take the Reins Riding Center is a faith-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide “Therapeutic riding that connects horses and children through the love of Christ.” Franktown Open Hearts’ partnership gives inner city youth the ability to learn how to ride horses and overcome long-time fears and anxieties, while building their confidence and self-esteem.

“We are really excited about our partnership with Take the Reins. Their program has given our kids the confidence and skill sets to interact with people as well as animals in a positive manner,” said Brandon Tinnon, Program Director for Franktown Open Hearts. “Their curriculum has allowed some of our kids to become leaders to where they want to be in front of others to do a presentation or even run for different class positions within their school. I personally feel they have inspired our kids to believe that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to.”

The program will take place every Thursday from 4-5:30 p.m. at Take the Reins Riding Center at Bending Tree Farms, 3636 Bear Creek Rd. Thompson’s Station, TN 37179.
