It’s hard to catch Brogan Wilson.
The Franklin Road Academy senior running back has an electric style to his game, and his speed reminds you of the type of running that Panthers RB (no, not these Panthers, the ones in the NFL) Christian McCaffrey.
Wilson blasted visiting Hickman Co. to the tune of 196 total yards of offense and 4 touchdowns last Friday in what is a great testament to what he’s meant to the FRA Panthers this season.
He’s eclipsed the 1,000 mark (1,083 to be exact) and 10 touchdowns on the ground and has added in 91 and a score for the year as the team uses him as a surprise receiver here and there.
If he heads on to the college level (he’s got our endorsement), it’d be fascinating to see him get more involved in the passing game. He’s got the potential to be a truly dangerous receiving option if given even more looks there. Though, it’s hard to blame coach Bill Whittemore for using him so much as a runner.
His downhill speed is lethal, which is why a lot of his scores come from 50+ yards out. Once he gets going, it’s hard to slow him down.
Here’s hoping Wilson transitions his shoulder pads and helmet to the next level like teammates WR Lance Wilhoite (Oregon) and DT Tymon Mitchell (Georgia). He’s clearly got the talent for it, and of course, clearly has earned our Player of the Week honors for last Friday’s big night.
Page kicker Chase Tidmore was mighty close to this honor with his booming 23-yard kick in overtime to send the Patriots to the Region 5-5A title, as was QB Cade Walker for 200 yards in the air, a touchdown throw and rushing score and WR Michael Burdick for his 131 yards and touchdown. Quite a night out in Rudderville.
Grace Christian Academy got its first win of the season against Mt. Pleasant last Friday, with QB Blake Barton overcoming two picks to throw for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed for 112 yards and a 2 touchdowns to power the Lions’ offensive attack. WR Cole Scott had 130 in the air and two touchdowns, while Gabriel Buzek had 82 and a touchdown.
Franklin RB Matt Gaca rushed for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns in a blowout against Spring Hill, continuing his stellar season. Power-five recruit WR Chancellor Bright caught 2 touchdowns and 62 yards.
Brentwood QB Cade Granzow threw for 178 yards and a touchdown and rushed for nine yards and a score in the Bruins’ win over Marshall Co. last week. RB Jordan Nicholas rushed for 88 yards and a score.
