Independence High School will be hosting a three-day youth basketball camp starting May 28, in which both beginners and experienced children aged 5 – 14 will be run through the fundamentals of basketball.

Taught by Independence High School Basketball Coach Doug Keil, the camp is designed to improve the skills of young players at any level. The camp emphasizes the fundamentals of the game through teaching ball handling, drill skills, team play and sportsmanship. Based on performance, children will eventually be placed into a group with similarly aged and skilled children, after which a series of team games will put their newly acquired skills to the test.

All participants in the camp will also receive a camp T-shirt, as well as the chance to win individual or team prizes.

The camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on May 28 – 30 for 5 – 9 year-olds, and 1 – 4 p.m. May 28 – 30 for 10 – 14 year-olds.

The three-day camp is $65, with parents encouraged to pre-register, which can be done by filling out a form and delivering it to Independence High School. The $65 fee may be paid either in cash on the first day of the camp, or via credit or debit card online by clicking here.
