An experienced team of digital artists, programmers, and designers has come together during the past month at the Dover Center on Seaboard Lane in Cool Springs to launch Traega Entertainment, an independent video game studio.
Founder Dax Hock has assembled an 11-member team of veteran game developers to create the company.
Michael Micholic, marketing director, says Traega expects to market its first game some time next year. Micholic said more hiring is planned.
The team currently in place brings decades of experience from Riot, EA, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Disney, Midway, and Funcom. The unannounced project is a tactical role playing game centered around card collection that is set to launch in 2018.
“Traega was created to build quality games with depth and a lot of freedom,” Hock explained in an announcement of the company that was embargoed for release until noon Wednesday. “I love to be challenged and to have the choice to play the way I want. These values will be at the core of everything we create, even with smaller-scale games, like the one we are building now.”
Traega plans to continue to expand the team as well as the scope of their future games. The studio has several open positions for Artists and Programmers. For more details, go to: www.traega.com/jobs.
“I want to foster a culture of collaboration,” Hock said. “Despite our individual roles, each of us have a hand in influencing all aspects of the game. My goal is to create something that we all want to play, something that we can all be proud of.”
Hock said the Nashville area is a prime location for a video game studio, offering
incredible creative energy and a high quality of life in one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
