Leiper’s Fork Distillery sets grand opening with tours, festivities

The official grand opening of Leiper’s Fork Distillery will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Friends and families are invited to join in the celebration that will include a ribbon cutting, tours of the facility and tastings throughout the day and a congratulatory concert later that evening. “Part of our mission at Leiper’s Fork Distillery is to tell a lot of forgotten history of Tennessee distilling – and not just whiskey. Tennessee has a rich heritage, but because of Prohibition, so much of it has been forgotten,” said Lee Kennedy, proprietor and distiller at Leiper’s Fork Distillery. “So we have done an extensive history project with the goal of bringing some of the history back to life, through our process and the space we operate in.”

Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson will cut the ribbon at 10 a.m. Free tours of the historically built distillery will kick-off immediately and continue until 4:30 p.m. that afternoon. Tastings will also be available for purchase for $10. Guests are welcomed and encouraged to stay throughout the day and enjoy food trucks, tours, tastings, corn hole and more.

Later that evening, a celebratory concert will feature country and Southern rock band, The Steel Woods and legendary headliners Waymore’s Outlaws at the Pow Wow Field in the heart of historic Leiper’s Fork Village. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets are available for $15, with meet & greet tickets available for $25. A package that will include tickets to the concert and whiskey tastings is available for $35. All tickets may be purchased online at www.leipersforkdistillery.com.

The copper, small-batch still bears the insignia of the distillery.

Leiper’s Fork Distillery aims to resurrect the lost history and heritage of small batch whiskey production in Williamson County. Family owned and operated, Lee Kennedy heads up the distillery alongside his mother, brother, wife and uncle and a close group of long-time friends. Their goal is to achieve long-term authenticity by using age-old traditions, paying attention to every detail and carrying unquenchable passion for the whiskey they produce. Leiper’s Fork Distillery offers various whiskeys under three brands including: Old Natchez Trace White Whiskey, Hunter’s Select Barrel and Leiper’s Fork Distillery.

“When you sip one of our products, you’re getting a taste of the environment of Leiper’s Fork in Middle Tennessee,” said Kennedy. “At the end of the day, I want somebody to be able to enjoy a Leiper’s Fork Distillery spirit and get as much out of it as we put into it.”

Leiper’s Fork Distillery uses local ingredients and limestone-filtered water to create a superior product with a signature taste. Nestled in the rolling hills of Leiper’s Fork and operated by the Kennedy/Locke family, the distillery is retelling the lost history of Tennessee’s rich distilling heritage through authentic, handcrafted spaces and premium spirits.
