The Williamson County Democratic Party will hold Diversity Day on Sunday at Franklin’s Pinkerton Park featuring cultural activities, a children’s area, voter registration, and a picnic/potluck lunch.
Robert McNamara, chair of the WCDP Diversity Committee, said the group has been planning for months to create the event, which is intended to not only showcase the county’s cultural variety but to also build a sense of community.
“We want to simultaneously highlight the beautiful cultural differences in Franklin and Williamson County but by bringing everyone together on one day, we can talk about what we all have in common,” McNamara said. “We anticipate a couple of hundred of our neighbors joining together for a picnic to break bread together.”
Entertainment includes the Major Minors, an LGBT youth choir, a South Asian dance group from Centennial High School, and a Venezuelan dance group.
The public are invited to attend Sunday’s event.
