The Southeast Regional Mine Rescue contest came to Franklin last month, bringing 15 teams from eight states to run through drills simulating mining mishaps.
Vulcan Materials in Franklin, which fielded their own nationally ranked safety team, was the local host for the event, held at the Williamson County Agricultural Exposition Park.
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development produced a video about the competition (it can be found below).
Vulcan is a national company with underground mine rescue teams in Illinois and Tennessee, which cover the company’s six underground aggregates operations. Team members are voluntters who volunteer to join teams on top of their regular responsibilities.
