A mysterious balloon landed in the yard of a North Carolina family over the weekend, which according to an attached note, appears to have originated from Spring Hill.

The balloon landed in the city of Monroe, which is about 20 miles south of the city of Charlotte. Monroe is more than 360 miles east of Spring Hill as the crow flies.

Sonny and Lori Joyner, the North Carolina couple who discovered the balloon, said it came attached with a note and a red Transformers action figure.

“It landed out here over the weekend, and my husband, he went out there [and] just brought it in today,” Lori said. “He said it’s a balloon with a note attached to it, and it’s like a weather balloon.”

The note attached to the balloon read to “give him a good home,” referring to the action figure, and also read that it had originated from Spring Hill, and was signed by “Ty.”

Lori said that she and her husband would love to know who originally released the balloon, and are considering attaching something of their own to it and allowing it to continue its journey – wherever that may be.

“My husband had an idea,” Lori said. “Once we find out who it belongs to, maybe we could attach a note to it along with the original note, and let it continue its journey. It’s something cool to do – keep it going, [and] let the story keep going on and on.”

Lori said her husband has since patched the balloon and filled it with air, and that it appears to still be functional. Lori did say, however, that she wants to hold onto it for a short while, hoping to discover its mystery sender before sending it off into the sky again.
