OBITUARY: Beverly Walter Landstreet III

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Nancy Anderson Landstreet; children: Lucia Cherry (Larry), James Collins II (Jennifer), Jane Longhurst (Rusty), Beverly Walter IV (Julia) and Thomas Fairfax (Laura); 15 grand children; cousin, Peg Chance (Cecil); and siblings, Enid Nagel, William G. Barnett, Robert J. Barnett and Ann Leach, all of Houston, TX.

Mr. Landstreet was born in Nashville to the late Francis Landstreet and J. Barbour Barnett. He was a graduate of the Duncan Preparatory School for Boys in Nashville and attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Mr. Landstreet enlisted in the U.S. Navy V-5 program in December 1941 and became a fighter pilot.

Mr. Landstreet received six air medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (3 Stars), American Campaign Medal (Leyte Gulf), and the Philippine Liberation Medal.

After the war, he graduated from the Nashville School of Law and formed the investment banking firm of Clark, Landstreet & Kirkpatrick. It evolved into Financial Securities Advisors. Mr. Landstreet retired in 1993 and was active member in civic, business, social, religious, and service organizations.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at Covenant Presbyterian Church with the visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and services at 12:30 p.m. Private graveside service will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
