George William “G.W.” Bowman, age 104½, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, passed away May 9, 2019.
Mr. Bowman was born in Williamson County, Tennessee, and spent most of his life in Spring Hill, Tennessee, where he was one of the first graduates of Spring Hill High School. He was a farmer, electrician and independent trucker. In his later years, he owned and operated Bowman’s Launderette and Car Wash. Mr. Bowman was the historian of the town and a story teller of old Spring Hill. His nickname was “Bozo” and he will be sadly missed by all.
Preceded in death by loving wife of 67 years, Lucille Fagala Bowman; son, Robert W. Bowman; grandsons, William T. Bowman and Barry W. Meacham and great grandson, Bradley Meacham. Survived by: son, Thomas C. (Lynda) Bowman; daughter, Jane Bowman (Robert) Meacham; grandchildren, Sandra Serkownek, Steven (Elaine) Meacham, Dale (Donna) Meacham and Cyndi Meacham; 15 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; special friends, Diane & Bill Colley and Rachel Tennison.
Funeral services will be conducted beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, Pastor Russell Yoder officiating. Interment is at Spring Hill Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dave Cross, Mark Filson, Bill Colley, George Jones, Steven Meacham and Dale Meacham. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bowman Sunday School Class, staff and friends of Old School Café and the Sunday Morning Breakfast Group. Memorials may be made to Spring Hill United Methodist Church or The Peoples Table c/o Columbia First United Methodist Church.
