Ogles is first freshman lawmaker to be elected House Republican Caucus vice-chairman

State Rep. Brandon Ogles (R-Franklin) has been elected by his peers to serve as House Republican Caucus vice-chairman for the upcoming 111th Tennessee General Assembly.

Ogles becomes the first freshman lawmaker ever to hold this Republican leadership position. He was nominated by his peers during the Nov. 20 Caucus Leadership Election Meeting and received unanimous support from his colleagues in efforts to secure this office.

As Caucus vice-chairman, Ogles will work closely with newly elected House Republican Caucus Chairman Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) on important legislative issues. He will also preside in Sexton’s absence, assist his fellow first-year lawmakers, and assume other caucus-related duties as assigned.

“I am incredibly humbled and honored to receive the support and trust of my colleagues who have allowed me the opportunity to serve them in this leadership position,” Ogles said. “I am eager to work alongside Chairman Sexton, Leader Lamberth, Speaker Casada, and all of our newly elected leaders to ensure our state continues to build upon its remarkable success. Together, I know our efforts will guarantee Tennessee remains a model for the entire nation to follow.”

Sexton said Ogles already had proven his readiness for leadership.

“I am excited to work with Representative Ogles, and I know he is uniquely positioned to help us better unify our membership so we can further advance our priorities,” Sexton said.

“Brandon Ogles has a remarkable work ethic and his passion for serving his community is unparalleled,” said Tennessee House Speaker-Elect Glen Casada (R-Thompson’s Station). “I am pleased to have him in this important Republican leadership position, and I know he will do a remarkable job.”

The 111th Tennessee General Assembly officially convenes at noon on January 8, 2019.
