Automotive parts manufacturer Faurecia, formerly known as “project field of dreams,” will be holding a hiring event on Tuesday, January 8, at the Northfield Workforce Development Center in Spring Hill.
Described by Faurecia as a job fair but for just one company, the event will feature multiple job openings for both hourly and salary-based positions, and is expected to result in job offers being made on the spot.
“We design, engineer and provide the best in technology, systems and services for automobile makers in every major market on all five continents,” a Faurecia spokesperson wrote in a statement. “If you share our ambition for technical perfection and our passion for all things automotive, Faurecia has a career for you.”
Faurecia had previously indicated that their new plant in Spring Hill would employ approximately 134 people at an average annual wage of $42,000. Positions being interviewed for during the hiring event include forklift operators, production supervisors, IT technicians and more, with most jobs starting at $14 an hour. A substantial number of positions will be entry-level, with no automotive industry experience required.
Originally revealed in June of 2018 under the code name “project field of dreams,” the Faurecia manufacturing plant got off to a rocky start after the developer had requested to have a significant amount of development fees waived. However, following city staff’s rejection of the request, the project has generated optimism from both the developer and city staff. Construction has begun at the site on Cleburne Road, just northeast of Spring Hill Middle School.
The hiring event is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Northfield Workforce Development Center at 5000 Northfield Lane. The hiring event will be located in the cafeteria near the 400 entrance of the complex, with attendees recommended to park at the north end of the building. Those wanting to attend are also encouraged to RSVP for the event online.
