Ben and Kandace Sechler, the Spring Hill couple that were featured on Tuesday’s broadcast of Wheel of Fortune, said that it had been a lifelong dream of theirs to appear on the show.

“It was one of [Kandace’s] dreams to be on that show, so she wanted to go to the tryouts,” Ben said. “It was something she used to watch with her grandma growing up, and she’s kind of kept that tradition. I started getting into it because she enjoyed it.”

In addition to just over $10,000, which Ben said would be used mostly towards bills, the couple also won a five day, four night vacation to the Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, though Ben said they might wait a bit until using that vacation package.

“I think we’re going sometime next year,” Ben said. “We want our son to be just a little bit older and want him to remember something.”

Regarding the show experience, Ben said he and his wife really enjoyed themselves, but that spinning the wheel was a lot heavier than it appears on television, and that Vanna White, the shows hostess since 1982, was a lot shorter in person.

Ben and Kandace moved to Spring Hill from Green Bay, Wisconsin two years ago after having visited Nashville numerous times throughout the years.

“I used to vacation in Nashville all the time, so I love being down here and the music scene and everything,” Ben said. “Spring Hill just kind of came up on our map as being a good fit, especially with having a little one. Spring Hill just turned out to be an awesome little town for us to raise a family.”

Ben also said by far his favorite thing about Spring Hill would have to be its community.

“People are just so nice here,” Ben said. “… we’ve met some really amazing people.”
