Jessica Settlemire, daughter of Dwayne and Jeannie Settlemire, is Summit High School’s student of the week.
She has been a student council officer and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes of the year leader. Settlemire is currently running for president of school council and is looking ahead to the future.
She wants to head to Alabama and attend Samford University in Alabama and get her nursing degree with a minor in psychology.
“They have a really awesome nursing school,” Settlemire said.
Russ Turpin, chairman of the English Department, said Settlemire is a joy to have in class. “She is on of the most hard-working, dedicated students that I’ve ever taught and she succeeds at whatever she puts her mind to,” he said.
For Settlemire, the most important thing for her is her faith.
“I’m passionate about serving others,” she said. “I love helping people whether tutoring others or another way.”
She’s a Best Buddies member, Key Club officer and a prom committee member.
She wants to go to Samford after next year because she loved the campus and they have a great nursing program. She said she recently discovered she loves psychology and the human mind.
Ultimately, she’d love to be a nurse and help others.
