Abigale Harrelson, daughter of Phillip and Beth Jamie Hartman Harrelson, is a senior at Summit High School and this week’s pick for student of the week.
Harrelson is a writing tutor for the Spartan Writing Lab and is very passionate about scientific inquiry. She is enrolled in the Research Experience for High School Students, which allowed her to enroll in a summer internship at Vanderbilt last summer. She is also an AP scholar.
Her favorite class is Advanced Placement Chemistry with Mr. Cherry. She said, “I love the content and I love the way Mr. Cherry teaches.”
When asked who her most important role model and inspiration is, she said her mother, Beth. She said she “is a tremendous woman” that she hopes she can be like one day.
After graduating from Summit, she hopes to attend Vanderbilt University. She plans to study molecular microbiology. After completing that degree, she hopes to pursue a medical degree in order to become a doctor.
