The Well Outreach, a nonprofit organization that provides food to underserved families and individuals in and around Spring Hill, will be holding its Big Payback Lunch fundraiser this Thursday, featuring music, games and food from some of Spring Hill’s most delicious eateries.
The fundraiser is planned in part to coincide with the Big Payback, a Middle Tennessee-wide giving challenge organized by the Community Foundation, an organization aimed at helping nonprofits secure donations and funding. The Big Payback has raised more than $12.5 million in the past five years for over 1,000 different nonprofit organizations.
The Well Outreach Big Payback Lunch fundraiser, which kicks off at 11 a.m. Thursday, will feature music broadcast from a Way-FM van, outdoor games such as cornhole, and plenty of food.
Local restaurants featured at the free lunch celebration include Chick-fil-A, Culver’s and Viking Pizza, with the Well Outreach staff accepting any and all donations during the event.
“People ask us all the time who we serve – really who we serve is ourselves; our mothers, our grandmothers, our teachers, the person that sits next to you at church… we see those people walk through all the time in our pantry,” said Shelly Sassen, executive director for the Well Outreach. “So I think it’s important to give back to the community, that we try to be the source to feed our community. It takes a community to feed a community, really that’s what it comes down to.”
Beginning as a local food pantry in a church in 2006, the Well Outreach turned into its own entity in 2009, and has been growing ever since, expanding its reach to the outskirts of, and even outside Spring Hill.
The event will be held at the Well Outreach, located at 5226 Main Street, Spring Hill, TN 37174.
