The Christmas tree is the heart of the home during the holiday season.
It reflects your style and brings Christmas cheer. It is important to have a clear vision for your tree so that you don’t drown under piles of garland or get tangled up in lights.
Below, we have listed a few options to spruce up your perfect Christmas tree this year.
Farmhouse Christmas tree
As we talked about in a recent Holiday Guide story, the idea of a Farmhouse Christmas isn’t going away anytime soon. It is easy, rather inexpensive and perfect for your Southern home. Make sure to seek out wooden ornaments, neutral color ribbons, decorative pine cones and winter flowers, such as the ever-popular Mexican Poinsettia. Instead of a classic tree stand, try placing your tree in a metal wash basin or wooden crate. Your tree will be in farmhouse fashion in no time.
Classic Christmas tree
Before the days of Farmhouse Christmas — or any other custom style, for that matter — green and red were the staple for Christmas tree décor. Sometimes it’s nice to go back to that. Use either colored lights or clear, and be very selective with the rest of the tree décor. Pick up some red garland from True Value, green and red ornaments, and a green or red star to put on top. It’s good to go back to a Classic Christmas after trying something else out for a few years. It will feel warm and nostalgic.
Family friendly Christmas tree
Growing up, I’m sure most of us (unless we had a home decorator for a parent) had the wonderful, messy yet charming family Christmas tree. Popcorn and cranberry garland, multi-color lights strung haphazardly over and under the branches and a star that’s a little crooked on top. Luckily, this shabby chic, “thrown together” look is in and super easy to create. Right now, True Value is having a sale on all of their mini Christmas light reels, both in color and clear/white, so be sure to pick some up for your fun family tree.
Every family collects miscellaneous ornaments over the years from family members, office parties and seasonal trips to Christmas markets. It’s time to put all of those ornaments to use — and don’t be particular about placement! This tree is all about decorating with family and having it look like a family designed it. You’re guaranteed to smile every time you walk by.
Winter Wonderland Christmas tree
Frosted tree limbs, white lights and crystal ornaments bring winter inside with a winter wonderland tree. At True Value, you can pick up a Christmas tree that is already pre-lighted and pre-frosted, so half the battle is over. Down here in Tennessee we seldom get a lot of snow, so having a white tree can fill that void. Pick up a few clear ornaments, plastic or glass, from True Value along with white and sparkly ones. (ANYTHING that has sparkle is a must for this tree. Just make sure its white, gold, silver or frosted blue!)
After you finish hanging the ornaments, take a step back and let the tree transport you to your own personal Winter Wonderland.
Contrast Christmas tree
Whether it’s black and white, white and gold or silver and black, it’s hard to go wrong with a contrasting Christmas tree. They are classy, cohesive and really show the effort that you put into decorating.
Make sure to focus on two colors that speak to you and then get shopping! True Value has a wide assortment of decorations for your tree in any color you might want. And if you want to expand this theme past the tree, pick up some black and white décor for around the house as well!
