WCS to host ‘Infothon’ at CoolSprings Galleria

Williamson County Schools is holding its first ever Infothon at the CoolSprings Galleria center court area on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Williamson County Schools is holding its first ever Infothon at the CoolSprings Galleria center court area on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The event will feature tables with interactive activities for students and school district representatives available to answer questions for parents.

“This is going to be a huge day for us,” Superintendent Mike Looney said. “We hope parents, students, staff and community members will come join us as we get ready to kick-off the 2014-15 school year.”

Looney will be joined by representatives from all school departments manning 30 booths and providing back to school information to parents. Kids can even tour a school bus and participate in a variety of hands-on activities.

“We are always excited by the opportunity to engage the community in activities representing the work our students do,” WCS Instructional Technology Coordinator Belinda Moss said. “Some of the activities Instructional Technology has planned include creating a Voki, communicating through Twitter, collaborating through Padlet, measuring 21st century skills and the opportunity to communicate with virtual guests.”

Dana Katterjohn, regional director of marketing for CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. said “CoolSprings Galleria is excited to partner with Williamson County Schools to host the WCS Back to School Infothon. We are proud to be an integral part of the Williamson County community and to support the efforts of our exceptional school system.”

The WCS Back to School Infothon will also feature entertainment by WCS students throughout the day including performances by the Sunset Middle School Strings Orchestra, Franklin High School vocalists, the Hot Shots Jump Rope Team, the nationally ranked Ravenwood High School Forensics duo of Andy Gordon and Alyssa Miller, and more.

WCS students return to school for a half day on Friday, Aug. 8.
