Williamson Business PAC endorses Sen. Mark Green for District 7 Congressional seat

In a statement released on their Facebook page Wednesday morning, the Williamson Business PAC endorsed state Sen. Mark Green, a Republican, in the 7th District Congressional race.

The seat is being vacated by Rep. Marsha Blackburn as she campaigns for the U.S. Senate.

Green was first elected to the Tennessee Senate in 2012; in January of 2017, he announced his run for governor, then changed races when Blackburn announced her run for senate.

Democrats Matt Reel, from Hickman County, and Justin Kanew, of Williamson County, are also in the race.

Green, a physician originally from Ashland City, was a lieutenant colonel who served in the military during the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, receiving numerous accolades including the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal.

He also founded and served as CEO for Align MD, an emergency department staffing group for hospitals.

Notably, Green was nominated by President Donald Trump as the U.S. Secretary of the Army, but he withdrew his nomination after public backlash against some of his previous comments disparaging transgender people and Muslims.

“And unfortunately, due to false and misleading attacks against me, this nomination has become a distraction,” Green said then in a release.
