The Spring Hill Municipal Planning Commission is considering the sketch plat for the new restaurant at its work session on Monday. City planning department staff are currently requesting several revisions before recommending approval of the plat.
According to the staff report, the 3,652-square-foot restaurant will include a drive-thru and 53 parking spaces and will be located on an out-lot of the Kroger shopping center, just northeast of the intersection of Reserve Boulevard and Port Royal Road in Spring Hill.
The one-acre property is already zoned as a central business district (B-4). The planning commission had originally approved a site plan application for a proposed automobile maintenance business on the property, although no permits for it were pursued.
Carter Engineering Consultants, the applicant for the Zaxby’s plat, will be required by staff to extend a public sidewalk along the property’s street frontage – it is entirely accessed by a network of internal private streets. The applicant has also proposed to improve a nearby four-way stop intersection to include a dedicated right turn lane to relieve existing and future congestion.
